Examining the Scientific Consensus on Climate Change

 Associate Professor
Barry R. Bickmore was quoted in
Deseret News of November 25th 2010, entitled “Global warming consensus matters
“Two recent studies have shown that 97 percent to 98 percent of researchers who actively publish peer-reviewed research on climate change agree that humans are significantly affecting Earth's climate.”
I can only find one of the studies he is quoting. Here
They contacted 10,257 scientists, 3146 responded and 5% described themselves as climate scientists which leaves us with 157 scientists.REduced by half whom the authors classified as specialists.
No detail for the term "specialist".
Banal question 1
1. When compared with pre-1800s levels, do you think that mean global temperatures have generally risen, fallen, or remained relatively constant?
Your kidding right.?
Loaded question next..
2. Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures?
Of course it has..but to what extent and where.?????
Thats where 75 specialists out of 77 said YES.
Thats where the magic 97% figure comes from.
The real headline should have been 0.73% of climate scientists think humans re affecting the climate.
As an aside..lets not forget the link on CRU in the UK(which was pulled down)
...seasonal and annual temperatures for the entire CET series...show unprecedented warmth during the 1990s, but earlier decades such as the 1730s and 1820s are comparable.
