Beaconsfield Mine Vandalism
Welcome to 2012 Environmental Protection Agency.This is the new EPA which hand in hand with the "big polluters" to help them minimise their costs and cut back on safety in the community.
So you have a giant mine that you have decided is no longer viable but you have 300 tonnes of tailings which have arsenic, cyanide and other toxins that you have to "clean up" before you get your EPA bond back and close the mine.
What do you do.
You dump the lot back down the mine shatf and hope flood dosnt drive the contaminted water back into the towns water supply.
Brilliant eh.
In the post normal world of govt dept`s in Australia you have no report done on what the dangers are, that would cost time and money and the EPA have loads of money, they must have, because they dont spend any of it doing any pesky reports.
So the EPA in Tasmania are as pathetic, gutless and toothless and their brethren here in NSW.
